Chikezie E. Uzuegbunam holds a PhD in Media Studies from the prestigious University of Cape Town, South Africa, as well as Master's, Bachelor's, and Diploma degrees in Mass Communication from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. He also completed a Postdoctoral Research fellowship at the Institute for Humanities in Africa, where he worked with the research collective on Artificial Intelligence and 4IR in Africa.He has published prolifically, with over 25 academic outputs in the areas of digital technology, young people and media, popular culture, political/health communication, and mis(dis)information studies. His works have been published in major globally visible outlets/publishers: Taylor & Francis; SAGE; Emerald; Palgrave Macmillan; Cambridge Scholars Publishing; Intellect; IGI Global, etc. In addition to academic papers, he has written a lot of opinion pieces and essays for major news outlets and critical blogs.Some of the top organizations in the world have supported Dr. Uzuegbunam's research, including the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Ford Foundation, Coimbra Group of Universities in Europe, Mellon Foundation, IAMCR, University of Bergen. He is also the Assistant Editor of African Journalism Studies and Annals of the International Communication Association, as well as a peer reviewer for countless high-profile journals. Dr. Uzuegbunam has been a Visiting Fellow at universities such as Oxford University, University of Cape Town, University of Groningen, Strathmore University, and Xiamen University. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian School of Internet Governance. He serves as Member, Volunteer Expert Group & Co-Lead (Education and Research) for developing Nigeria's National Artificial Intelligence Policy.
