Consulting Scientist, Scientific Panel on AI and Economic Inclusion
Jessica Gold is a computational sociologist whose research examines the intersection of work, organizations, and inequality. Her work brings together large-scale data analysis, qualitative insights, and network approaches to understand how systems and institutions shape opportunities for equity and inclusion. She is currently conducting research with a team at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center studying Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and meritocracy in universities in Germany, the UK, and the US. Previously, she was a research scientist and postdoctoral researcher at Northeastern University, where she analyzed gender equity knowledge-dissemination networks in the U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) ADVANCE program. She also served as a Virtual Visiting Scholar with the NSF-funded ARC Network. She has expertise in computational text analysis, social network analysis, and mixed-methods approaches, which she applies to the study of equity in science, higher education, and beyond. With this background, she is particularly interested in how AI and data-driven tools shape evaluation, knowledge production, and access to opportunity.
