Prof. Dr. Mimi Zou is Head of School, School of Private & Commercial Law and Professor of Law, Faculty of Law & Justice, University of New South Wales (UNSW). She is a dual-qualified (England & Australia) lawyer with 22 years of global experience in business, government and academia. Prof. Zou is a renowned expert on international governance and regulation of AI, as editor of the Cambridge Handbook of Generative AI and Law and the EU AI Act: Article-by-Article Commentary. She received a Global Australian Award in 2024 for her significant research and policy contributions to this field, including as an expert advisor to the G7, World Economic Forum and the UK Government's responsible technology adoption body. She graduated with law Master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining UNSW, Prof. Zou held various senior academic positions at top institutions worldwide, including the University of Oxford, where she was appointed to the first post in Chinese law and founded Oxford's first lawtech innovation lab and a regtech spinout.
