Prof. Botero Arcila is an Assistant Professor of law in the digital information economy at Sciences Po Paris and Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. In 2024, her article “Future-Proofing Transparency: Re-Thinking Public Record Governance for the Age of Big Data,” was selected for the Future of Privacy Forum 's 14th Annual Privacy Papers Award. She was also a 2024 International Strategy Forum Fellow. Her research and work focuses on data and AI governance. Over the past 5 years her work has focused on three main issues: smart city and urban technology governance; AI governance, with a focus on liability; and data openess and sharing. Currently, her research focuses on the institutional enablers of AI and digital technologies diffusion. She holds an LLB from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, and an LLM and an SJD from Harvard Law School. She is also co-founder of The Edgelands Institute, an interdisciplinary institute focused on understanding and raising awareness urban digital surveillance.
