Mokhtar Elareshi (PhD) is an Associate Professor in Communication and PR, at the College of Communication, University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He has taught at several Libyan universities such University of Tripoli, when he was also a former Head of the Department of Media at Azzaytuna University 2003–2006. Elareshi earned his PhD at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Leicester, UK. He is the author of News Consumption in Libya (Cambridge Scholar, 2013) and the co-author of The Future of News Media in the Arab World (LAMBERT, 2013). He has written and reviewed several journal articles in the Arabic and English languages. His research interests include news consumption, new media, social media, mobile phone use, and satellite news television.
