Ngai Keung Chan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Broadly situated at the intersection of critical data studies and communication studies, his research examines the emerging forms of governance by and over digital platforms. His work has been published in journals such as New Media & Society, Information, Communication & Society, Big Data & Society, Social Movement Studies, Surveillance & Society, and Social Media + Society, among others. His current research projects include a comparative study of platform power across labor platforms in Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as a collaborative study examining the intersection of AI and platform governance frameworks.
