Kioko Ireri is the in-coming Chair of the Department of Mass Communication at Mahanaim University in Nairobi, Kenya. He is currently an online faculty in the Department of Mass Communication at UNICAF-Liverpool John Moores University, Cyprus. He is a former Visiting Scholar at University of Houston, Texas, and a former Associate Professor of Journalism & Mass Communication and Chair, Department of Journalism & Corporate Communication at United States International University-Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from The Media School, Indiana University Bloomington (2015) in the US. Ireri received his M.A. in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University, Ohio in 2009 and 2007, respectively. He earned Associates of Arts in Journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, graduating with top honors (top student) and awarded the Africa Council for Communication Education Perpetual Award�KIMC Journalist of the Year 2002. His research work has been published in acclaimed journals like Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Press/Politics, Journalism, Digital Journalism, and African Journalism. He is also an author of six book chapters and has presented his research work at internationally-recognized conferences such like the International Communication Association (ICA).
